Vintage fireplace matchstick oak wood holder with lion head ring embellishment. Surprisingly this one doesn't have a hinge- although it looks like it should due to the way the backs are carved at an angle where they meet. The bottom has a sticker that reads "The Commodore, collection by Rosalco, made in Taiwan." The lid just sits on top, but a hinge could easily be added. There are some scratches, consistent with age. The lion head has carved a circle around the head from being loose and digging into the wood, see photo 3. Although it's difficult to see, it could easily be made less visible by polishing the wood there. The back features a striking pad that can be removed from it's brass frame and replaced. It measures 13" tall with lid, 3.5" W x 3.5" L
